Program TEDActive
In 2011, a spectacular group of people will converge on Palm Springs, California, to experience a live simulcast of TED and exchange ideas in an intimate, immersive setting. TEDActive brings innovators of the future together at a desert oasis retreat, creating startling conversations supplemented by live music, bonus speakers, and whimsical soirees.
At TEDActive, you experience TED in real time in the company of doers, makers and thinkers from all walks of life -- scientists, bloggers, chefs, educators, entrepreneurs, designers, humanitarians, technologists, artists and more. Grab a beanbag, get comfortable and let your mind travel the world of ideas, watching the live-hosted TED2011 program on crisp, state-of-the-art monitors. When the talks are over, engage with other passionate attendees in critical discussion and problem-solving. Here, you’ll meet people like you -- people who let themselves dream big and are invested in creating a bold vision for tomorrow.
TEDActive is about you. It’s an interactive experience that you can shape, a place where you can create your own adventure and get involved. In addition to the dynamic experiences already built in to the conference schedule, our attendees can give their own talks at TED YOU, host participatory workshops, create and lead inventive activities like flashmobs, educator meet-ups and PJ mornings, or simply relax and enjoy all that this burgeoning community has to offer.
Included in the TEDActive mix are some of our most heroic TEDsters from around the world (31 countries represented at TEDActive in 2010!). Meet people who are helping to foster TED's mission of spreading ideas big enough to change the world -- prolific TEDTalks volunteer translators, independent TEDx event organizers, top TED.com commenters, rockstar TED Prize wish contributors and spectacular past TED Fellows. Special workshops create opportunities for these community members to meet face-to-face and exchange best practices.

Attendees receive the famous TED Gift Bag, recordings of the conference proceedings including all mainstage, TED U and TEDYOU stage content, access to private online social networks so you can connect with conference participants in Palm Springs and Long Beach, and a subscription to the legendary TED Book Club, launching your exploration of new ideas months before the conference happens.
